Burundi's National Tourism Office banking page says transactions are mainly cash-based. It also says many hotels and restaurants accept Visa, Mastercard, US dollars or euros and lists major banks with ATMs and bureaux de change. That establishes the general payment landscape, not a guarantee that a particular terminal or machine will accept your card.

A resilient money setup

• Tell your bank about travel if its process requires it.
